The Day the World Knew Gangsta

Release Date: 01/01/2017
The Day the World Knew Gangsta is a very special album.
Originally conceived shortly after JJAHBG’s 2008 sophomore album We are Legend was released, The Day the World Knew Gangsta was a highly ambitious concept album. For many years, it existed primarily only in the wildest imaginations of band mates Danger and Jesse. For years they tinkered, working on concept art, perfecting lyrics, and generally going on in circles about what they wanted to achieve musically. Eventually, over time, they brought Slate and Firegod into the mix, and finally started started laying the barest of rough recordings down, slowly building what they believed would become their magnum opus.
For nearly nine years this process continued. JJAHBG was hardly quiet during this period, releasing six more albums after We are Legend hit shelves, and many times the project was relegated to the back-burner in favor of the latest idea or newest release. As time went on, there were even moments when the band considered scrapping The Day the World Knew Gangsta, so pessimistic were they that they could ever realize the concept’s true potential. The Day the World Knew Gangsta was slowly becoming JJAHBG’s own Chinese Democracy.
However, JJAHBG persevered. Resisting the urge to abandon the project, the band continued, continuing to craft their epic, their Iliad, their Odyssey. At last, by the end of 2016, The Day the World Knew Gangsta was ready to see the light of day.
Unfortunately, in resolving one problem, JJAHBG had inadvertently created another. In attempting to realize their wildest conceptual ideas, JJAHBG had created something so groundbreaking, so complex, so paradigm shifting, that they knew the average listener could not hear it in it’s entirely and retain their faith in the very universe around them. In short, The Day the World Knew Gangsta was, simply put, too gangsta.
JJAHBG had to bury their baby.
Yet, the band could not bear to destroy that for which they had labored so long to build. And so the members of JJAHBG swore to never publicly release or distribute The Day the World Knew Gangsta, for the good of society’s continued survival, instead pressing a single vinyl record of the album for posterity. This single vinyl album is stored under heavy security somewhere deep in the bowels of the earth, its location known only to a select few trustworthy souls.
Despite that, there is still a chance for the discerning audiophile to experience the musical bliss that is The Day the World Knew Gangsta. JJAHBG has made the single copy of the album in existence available for purchase for a very reasonable $1,000,000.00, with the caveat that the record must never be reproduced or redistributed, under pain of losing all that mankind holds dear.
And so, the question now is, who will be the lucky soul with both the disposable income and willingness to put their sanity on the line who will experience The Day the World Knew Gangsta?
The world holds its breath…
